Hi all
I am interested in 2 sights and can't make up my mind. The choice is between the Spott hog 'right on' or the Copper John Dead nuts 2.
The price is very much the same but the big question is do the smaller pins on the spott hog help with accuracy and are they bright enough when you are standing in shadow. The Copper John's pins are very bright and with my GT500 the 20 and 30 pins are really close so maybe having such bright pins could also be a problem. Any input would be great.
Thanks

I would look at Sword as well. I got one after handling both of the ones above. They are very popular, extremely well made and are a great value.

i just ordered a sword about 2 hours ago. but the fibers are bright enough to get .010. i dont like the light they have but trophy ridge makes one about twice as bright.

Don't need more than 5 pins and would like to check out other sights but here in South africa with the rand dollar exchange at the moment most products have had a 50% increase in the last few months and these two sights are still at the old price, any new stock prices are mad.

Take a look at the Sword sights, really nice and you can find used ones in the adds for cheap

:taz: On my GT500, I have my first pin set at 30yrds and my second at 50yrds. I aim approx 2-3" low at 20 and 3-4" high at 40yrds with the 30yrd pin. This helps with the pin gap. My pins are not jammed together.
The brightest sights I know of is the FlashPoint Ignite by Black Gold. I paid $179. They make a cheaper version costing about $129.
They claim 300% more efficient light gathering. I believe it. You would think it has batteries or something. This sight comes with 5 or 7 pin configurations.
This sight may be more than you are willing to spend.
As I mentioned above, you can improve your pin gap for hunting. Not sure about 3-D
Good luck.

I chose a Spot Hogg Real Deal as my sight on my GT500. Wassaw has a Copper John Dead Nuts 2 and the Spot Hogg pins just seem brighter to me. I recently bought a HHA to replace the Spot Hogg as my hunting sight though because I want a clean sight picture when I take a shot at an animal.

Spot Hogg Hogg-It for me, The thing I like about this sight, it's tough and there is a few add ons, so you can configure to suit yourself, such as pin light, lens etc.

It looks like most of you all prefer the Spott Hogg. Christmas is just around the corner but I don't think I will make it till then. Thanks for all the input.

Get a Spot Hogg with the wrap. You'll be able to see the pins even when you can't see the target, and their customer service is 2nd to none...if you ever need it. :thumb:

spott hogg with a wrap. I like mine. very bright. I also added a tru-glo light that I had laying around which comes in handy from a blind in low light.

Unless they have changed recently the CJ's I've had in the past, the bolts rusted after using for a while. The SH is bullet proof and gang adjustments are so simple, it's the best site going right now, unless the new Truball site dethrones it.

Me too. I looked and handled many, but found the Sword the best as far as quality and price. I was even willing to spend the $ on a new SH too.

Spot-hogg has the adjust ability features down to a science. But the fiber in the sword is the best I have used. its like rubber, bends with out breaking and very bright.
I had trouble keeping the fibers in my spot-hogg. and hard to see in low light. the red is the worst. But the sight is strong and the best for adjusting. Swords are awesome but lacking in individual pin adjustments. They work but I wonder about over tightening them. I have both and use the sword the most.:thumb:

i went from multi pin to single pin. Cant wait to try out my HHA sights. I think multi-pins just got me thinking more about what pin i needed to rest where and the math in my head just drove me up the wall or tree....which ever you prefer....single pin is definitely the way to go....Ray Ray, you have shot single pins forever and a day,you think you can chime in bud??

I shoot a single pin target sight for 3-D. I use a HHA for hunting & I feel that keeping the sight picture the same works better. When hunting from a tree stand most shots will be 25 yds. & under. Just set it at 25 & forget it. If you have a longer shot, you will probably have enough time to change it for the yardage you are going to shoot.
