so i'm gonna be moving to colorado.. anyone looking for a hunting partner?? i have some really good equipment. and i can haul a lot of weight.:D
kinda looking for someone who has patience for a newbie to wilderness hunting; non smoker; good sense of humor; a hard worker; honest; follows all game laws; and is a bowhunter first and for most and doesn't mind a guy shooting a cow or a raghorn bull.. i'm not a trophy hunter...just like to be outdoors and possibly harvest an animal.. not saying i wont put in for limited hunts but i don't find the antlers to be the trophy is the memories.
not looking to steal honey holes just looking to be shown the ropes..
You are welcome to join me...I am new as well with just one year under my belt in colorado...but I have some great guidance from some really close friends here that really help out. I am going to look into seeing if I can bring a couple extra guys to some land I have access to...I would suggest getting a good two man tent, sleeping bag, gps..water filtration gadget, good boots...The two man tent works out great to put your bow and stuff in with you when you sleep...Packing into the mountains is freakin great

might have to come down to colorado and hunt with you guys. I have been looking for somewhere else to hunt outside of Idaho. I have been killing my elk the last few years on the first or second weekend of season and If none of my buddies are hunting I just sit at home in september on the weekends, what a waste!

That would be awesome, I'll bring the video camera and call for ya all. I almost enjoy calling in elk more than I do shooting them.

L-train,
Do you have to apply for an elk hunt in CO or is it otc?
Depends on what unit...However if we really do this even if some of us draw in our area...we can still purchase tags, I think in OTC areas and hunt will you all...could be fun...

Your spots a draw Ben? unit?
I think if I remeber right about70% of the state is OTC
I am not sure, it is in the grand junction area...I will ask and find out....
Can you still buy an over the counter tag if you draw a tag in a dif. area? I think you can but don't know for sure...A group Elk hunt would be fun...

You could buy a OTC list B cow tag if you draw a limited license.
40 is draw and SW of GJ, 62 is S, 41 is SE, 30 is N and all are OTC.

You will have a good time in Colorado! Elk hunting is a blast. Fishing is great also. Should be back there in a few weeks.
