After a short wait i finally have my GT500. First thoughts were that it looks GREAT! Fit and finish are great with one small exception that the grip was just a little loose. The small brass insert doesn't look like it would take much torque, so I added a dab of blue Loctite and all is good. I checked everything over and that was the only thing I could find.
Next - the draw cycle. The BC with the bow said 72.7 lbs and 30" and 343 IBO. I normally shot 61 - 63 lbs but wanted to move up a bit. The draw was firm all the way threw the cycle and drops into the valley with great smoothness. Even though this bow is considerably more weight than I am used to, I found it drew very smooth and was not that hard to draw.
Set up - I installed a Limb Driver rest set at 7/8" center shot, Hogg-It sights with a left hand mount, String loop, 1/8" Meta Peep, Wrist sling and a 12" Doinker stabilizer. All accessories installed with no problems. Arrows are ACC 3-60s with 100 gn nibbs and 2" Blazers.
The initial shot - This bow is FAST - DEAD in the hand - holds VERY VERY easy on target and QUIET!!!!!
I was so excited about how it performed I had to call my son out of the house to listen to it and watch just to be share the experience with someone. All I can say is WOW:hail: Thank you Kevin and all at Elite Archery.
The Tune - As stated - the rest was set up at 7/8" CS and the sight was lined up with it. The arrows did impact a couple inchs to the left (right handed bow) but no tuning has been done and it was to dark to run threw the Chronograph. I put it on the draw board and the stops hit almost exactly at the same time. I made just a slight adjustment. The draw was at 30 1/8" and is now a perfect 30".
I shot about 30 arrows at 20yds before it became to dark to shoot. I am REALLY surprised that I didn't smash any nocks as I was piling the 3 arrows right on top of one another.
I will try to do some paper tuning, walk back tuning, chronographing, of course PICTURES after work today and up date everyone later.
This bow was well worth the wait!
