View Full Version : Fixed Mount vs. Dovetail

I am looking at getting a different sight and was wondering what others thought about the fixed mount versus the dovetail mount. Recently I have only bought the dovetail mount because I like to line up my sights by using aligning the round housing with the round peep. When I got a dovetail, I had more room to adjust the sight in order for me to achieve this.

However, most of my shooting is back yard practice with occassional 3d therefore I don't usually have a whole lot of adjusting going on. So, I was thinking about using a fixed mount so as to have a sight with less moving parts and maybe be more of a "rock solid, not going to move" sight that I didn't have to worry about when hunting and climbing in and out of stands.

My only concern is getting one and then not being able to adjust it like I want it once it is mounted.

Specifically looking at the Sword Twilight Hunter in G1 camo to go on my Elite Fire.

Any suggestions/comments on this. Thanks everyone.

Magoo,I have been back and forth on the solid ,dovetail thing..I am now back with the solid..In fact the same sight your looking at but in black.I run my sights out as far as I can so I thought that the dovetail would be the way to go,but it was noisy,to many parts to tighten..And they were all 100 plus sights. When my GT500 gets here it will have the Sword twilight hunter, its a beautiful thing..My others were a Fuse intrepid(solid),Apex nitrous( dovetail)..I thought the Fuse was the one until I got the Sword..Good luck..Ken:2thunbs:
