I have been hunting this farm for 17 years and never have I seen a season like this :( I have only seen 4 does since the opener in Sept. and no mature shooter bucks, only young 6's and the like. I checked all water sources for dead deer thinking it was EHD like we had 7 years ago but found no dead ones. I am reading on other forums and talking to people that are finding similar experiences. Also, usually Late Oct. and now there are deer smeared all over the highways and I can't even find a road kill to shoot
I think someone put the maloiks on me.
Anyone else having a bad year like this?

Well don't feel alone.. Here in North East Ohio, the rut hasn't really started yet and next week the temps going to be in the upper 60's. This is going to be a rough year.....

Worst season I have ever seen here in Virginia. In the past I have seen deer in the woods most every time out. This year, very little sign. Very few deer sightings in the woods. Opening day I saw 1 doe. Over the last 3 weeks I have only seen a total of 9 more deer. Eight of those were on the same evening.
I thought it was just me having a bad season, but I have heard of others saying the same...

Wow, I've never really thought about deer having a hard summer but I guess I can see why because of heat, drought etc. Up here it's the winters that kill off the deer.

Jerry your not the only one. All I have seen are dinky bucks. Not a one shooter even at a distance. Deer movement is very late. Glad I managed to take 2 does with my Synergy for the freezer.
Maybe the late season will be better. Good luck

No, not my blood. I am not the hunter for this one. I took my nephew out hunting yesterday for his first archery hunt. It didn't last long. He put the smack down on a nice whitetail. I enjoy taking kids out to hunt more than I do hunting myself. My 4 year old son is always with me.

Somebody has to teach them, God knows they are not learning anything from watching the "Pro's" on TV, except that a 180 class buck should be killed in 30 minutes, minus comercials:D.
I don't just take them hunting, I also teach them to shoot properly before I even consider putting them on an animal. I think shooting skill should come first.
Thank you for the compliment, I don't take it lightly.
