Here's a question i'm gonna put to poll so i can have some numbers to back up my thought so here it goes.
Do you think we really need a Tech or Equipment forum??
my suggestion is having
General Archery
Bowhunting
Trading Post
Competition Archery
Offtopic
it would clear up a lot of moving posts or whatever.
technical questions can be put in general as well as equipment questions

My thinking is that there is no way that a thread in the tech corner can't have a legitimate argument to be in the General Archery forum.
I do understand that some things are just very technical questions, such as tuning questions and what not.
I think that these would be fine in the General Archery forum, but I have no problem with there being 2 seperate forums. I do frequent the tech forum too.

So if a thread in the tech corner has a legitimate argument to be in the General Archery forum why have the Tech forum??
I just don't see the need for these other forums if people are posting the questions in general and no one has a problem with them being there. is what i'm getting at.

I kind of like having both. right now its probably not a big deal but when this site gets bigger and more members I think it will be more of a necessity. right now though its pretty convenient to have your thread stick around for a few days for everyone to see. in gen. sec. it may go by the way side if it gets busy.

The reason it stays in the top of the Tech Corner is the same reason it drops from the first page of the General Archery page. TRAFFIC
If you ask a question nobody sees then it doesn't matter if its on the fron page or not. I understand both arguments and have no problem with either solution, but I totally understand why a guy would post a thread in General Archery that he knows should be in the Tech Corner.

We need to increase traffic to the other forums if we're going to keep them is my point. if everyone wants to keep them then posts put in general that belong else where are going to get moved to the appropriate forum. We need to either have the forums get used as intended or just condense everything to General Archery.

Here is my point: Right now 7:57pm EDT 5-27-08.
The Elite Archery forum has 46 Active users of these 46 users 0 are viewing the Tech Corner, and 1 is viewing the Equipment Corner.
at the same point in time on www.archerytalk.com (http://www.archerytalk.com)
There are 800 Active Users of these 800 users 9 are viewing the Tuning forum, and only 3 forums (General Archery, Bowhunting, and Classifieds) have more than 20 users viewing them. 5 of their forums are empty, 17 have fewer than 5 users viewing them.
So what this means is if this site were to ever get as big as AT (which is very very very very highly unlikely) these pages still will not get the traffic.

I understand what your saying but there may just be 9 guys willing to answer technical questions. or help out with equipment issues. those guys will check out the other forums. :applause:

I've been a member here for about 5 months now, and I've always been very happy with the way this site has been run, until today. I think most of the members here have no complaints about the way things have been. I've had threads moved before, and I think they deserved to be. I've had post deleted that deserved to be. But when something is boarder line I think it should stay, and not get moved. There is not enough traffic on here to have so many categories.

I am not arguing for one or the other I am just saying it is all judgemental. I generally hit all the forums to see what is new since my last log in.
I just notice that one of the most beloved past time's on this website is to bash AT, and now this site is doing all it can to model itself after it.
I don't have a problem with there being seperate threads, but I do have aproblem with a guy asking a question about opinions on his arrows, and his spine. He posts it in General Archery (exactly where I would post it and likely 98% of users on here would post it there), but it gets moved to the Tech Corner Forum, and no more than 10 minutes later it is again moved this time to Equipment corner.
Are arrow questions supposed to be posted in the Equipment forum? I don't even really think of arrows as "equipment".
My thinking of equipment is bows, rests, sights, quivers, & stabs. So shouldn't all questions about these items be in the Equipment forum?
Not stirring the pot, I just think there has to be guidelines not just some moderator decided that this doesn't belong so he moves it but leaves a bunch of other threads that don't belong equally as much.

i intended for the thread to get moved to the Equipment forum from the get go but had a slip of the mouse and didn't realize it til you pointed it out.
Arrows are equipment just as sights or rests are. that's what the equipment forum is for. i
and as far as it being just me deciding to move something i think doesn't belong. that's what i'm here to do. there are no set guidelines because this site is still in it's infancy. as far as modeling it after AT, as far as moderators go RK and Bellows1 are some of the best and most fair i have seen. there has to be some sort of order or as things progress it's going to become more of a mess than it is now. the other posts that haven't been moved will be in due time. i can only accomplish so much in a day. i don't get paid to sit on this computer and handle things for this webpage, so if it takes a back seat to my LIFE, sorry but that's the way it goes. I have a wife and 2 kids at home that i like to spend time with as well as most of the people here.

general should be just that, general

to expediate flow, I do vote for the combining of tech & equip, maybe use "Tuning" as the heading
