Do you have any little tricks for hunting you've picked up over the years ? One I learned a long time ago when sitting on the edge of a field is to break off the branch of a tree and stick it in the ground in the field at the distance you want the deer at . Almost every deer that comes out on the field will come over and check it out . I have others , but what are some of the things you've tryed . :)

Before I ran cameras I would run a piece of monofilament across a deer run to determine the direction they travel. It also tells you if they use the trail.

Years ago we used sowing thread before trail timers came out to string the trails . :)

Old Indian taught me with this word of advice.
"wind blow this way, you go that way"
works every time

Rattling- I tie 3 antlers together, then bungee cord them to brush under my stand and attach to drop line up to me . See a buck, pull cord or just nudge with foot. Not many bucks come running in to clashing antlers in the burbs of Philly ( usually run). Enough to peek their interest and not to much movement.

OK for real when hunting Antelope at water holes if they continue to use trail outside your comfort zone(effective archery range) stretch caution tape or something similar across said trail they WILL avoid it and take a different trail to water hole

If you have alot of tall grass and it is hard to get deer to walk where you want next your stand. Take a atv and drive right where you want them to go and nock down the tall grass and brush before season starts. Alot of time the deer will walk right down the beat down atv trail. Mower works to.

If you a few people hunting your hunting property(they have permission) and they seem to want to hunt where you are or close to you all the time. Take a hand saw that you use to prune back shooting lanes and make rubs on big trees somewhere else on property where they can see them. They will spend alot of time hunting around those mock rubs. Done this a couple of times. :jaw:
