Does Elites warranty go from owner to owner?
Michael
11-27-2007, 11:18 AM
No, original owner only.
Takeum

I don't think So,,, Thats why you see so many not fill out their warrenty cards,,
Dave Nowlin

I don't want to stand in judgement here but, if you are the original owner and don't fill out the card and pass it on so someone else can pretend to be the original owner that's not honest. In the end only you can set the ethical standards you live by. Remember one thing though, "a man is only as good as his word." If a person will cheat the manufacturer. What will he do to you?

Dave NowlinYes you are probably right. I was just asking because I see a guy selling a Synergy XT in the classifieds and he says you will get a "full warranty" with the bow.
Michael
11-27-2007, 04:01 PM
Doesn't matter really. The manufacturer knows when the bow was produced and shipped. I am sure they could figure out what is going on when they receive the warranty card 4 months or longer down the road.
I personally think a warranty should stick to the product no matter who owns it, if in fact the problem is not caused by modification or abuse. I would rather see a 2-5 year warranty than a lifetime, that could end in a matter of a few months, if the bow is sold.
Michael

Only if he is a dealer, and the bow is finding it's first home.

It's funny you would mention that Michael. In the early days of Elite I had a conversation with Kevin about that very subject and have done several posts on AT about it. Seven is the Biblical number of completition. I suggested a seven year warranty on the bow, not it's owner. Elite makes bows not owners. If they feel secure in a lifetime warranty to the original owner, why wouldn't they feel secure in a seven year warrant covering all owners. Eventually they won't have parts on hand to do warranty work on your bow anyway. This would increase the value of a used Elite for it's first seven years. After seven years a bow is obsolete these days anyway.

Correction... 7 months.:D
LOL! So true. At least in our minds.
I think my warranty card said it had to be returned within 30 days to be covered. If someone doesn't send in their card and sells the bow 6 months later, I doubt the card could be sent in and the bow warranted.
Dave Nowlin
11-27-2007, 07:28 PM
Actually the card doesn't tell the whole story. Many bow companies today will let you register your bow over the internet. If you buy a bow from a less than truly honest person he could represent that his used bow still had the warranty card. That would be true. The problem is the bow would already be registered in a his name over the internet. What do you think the bow company would think of you if you sent in the card for a bow that was already registered?

When I purchased my bows, prior to me leaving the Archery shop they filled out the cards and sent them into Elite. When you purchase a bow direct from Elite they have all the info on fill who purchased the bow (ser.#'s) date of purchase, date shipped etc.... I received my Aigil a few weeks ago and I haven't filled the card out yet but I will in the near future. It really don't matter they know when I purchased the bow. As far as the warranty transfering over, I guess it's the same as when you purchase a used car and you sell it the warranty doesn't transfer over....I agree with Elite the LIFE TIME warranty should only be for the origanal buyer. I purchased a bow through A/T and I was told the warranty was good for no matter who owned the bow, the bearings were shot, the upper cam had a flat spot and when I notified the MFG I was stuck.... The prior owner did not take care of the bow and I found out latter the bow was owned by 4 others prior to me....Can you imagine if the company would warranty the bow for every owner! They would loose money..The MFG knows the origanl owner paid good money for the bow and the MFG knows after spending that amount of money they will take extra care of there product..........The hand me downs will not as much....

1. Warranty on a used car does transfer to the new owner, if indeed the warranty is still valid.
2. This is directly related to my statement about the warranty should carry over if the issue is a defect, and NOT caused by abuse or improper modification.
I do not disagree with the manufacturers not transfering a lifetime warranty, I would rather see it be a 2-5 year transferable warranty that will cover defects, including design defects.

You know, I'm into fly fishing as well. I have fly rods and reels in 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 10 & 12 weight. I have some very expensive fly reels. One of them is a Billy Pate Tarpon made by Ted Jurasic. He also makes the Tibor line of reels. I bought my Tarpon from a friend who worked in a fly shop. It was used and I found out they now had an improved drag system available for the reels. I called them to inquire about buying the parts to upgrade my drag and also wanted an owners manual. I wanted to buy these things. I was told Ted made fly reels not owners and that all his reels were guaranteed for life and the parts and manual would be sent to me for free. My other reels are only waranteed to the original owner. Next time I need a fly reel especially if I can get a bargain in a used one, whose reel do you think I will buy?

I have enough faith in Elite that if i buy a used bow and have a manufacturer defect(limbs, riser or cams)I really believe they will take care of it whether i am the original owner or not.Now i am talking a bow that is not abused.I have a friend that dry fired his Synergy before he ever paid for it.He was shooting it first to try it and picked up my arrow that was to short for him and drew it past the rest.In the attempt at getting off his hand it went off and the string and cables needed replaced as well as the top cam was bent at the draw stop peg.He paid the dealer for the bow and called Elite. He told the truth as to what happened and they replaced both cams and sold him a new string and cables for half price.I think that is pretty fair for something that was his fault. He is extremely happy with the bow and is shooting it great.I think Dave is making a valid point.Tell the truth when a problem arrises and good things will probably happen.Just my .02.

If it's varified that it is a design defect then yes I agree..But if the bow is sent back and the MFG varifies that it was caused by miss use then the cost of shipping, repairs etc. falls on the owner...

Playingthewind is correct too. Just be honest and all will be taken care of. I am sure the folks at Elite would take care of any issues that are not related to mis-use, abuse, or modification.

Ultramax, I could take your bait, but I won't. Those who I have helped know who they are. I haven't charged anybody a cent for my help. I often call people because it's more personal than typing. I pay for unlimited long distance because of my home office business. So I call people if they need help and send me their phoone number. Why shouldn't I? That way it won't cost them or me. If wanting to help people is a crime. I plead guilty. I'm not the only person on this site who goes back and forth to AT. I have friends there. I believe I also have some here. If you choose not to be among them, well that's your business. When talking with you on the phone awhile back, I thought you told me you were in the corrections business. I would have thought in that business you would certainly realize the need for morality. Many of those folks wouldn't be in the trouble they're in if they had morals. As for Crackers, we're friends and speak regularly. I have great respect for him and feel he has respect for me too. I don't remember saying we are equals. On a serious note, Dave your reputation should preceed you. You are an acknowledged master of the binary cam. I think your viewpoint of the warranty issue is valid. I haven't kept a bow for two years much less seven.

Dave Nowlin
Im about sick of hearing about ethics on here and archery talk! What u think is ethical and the right thing doesnt mean it is for someone else! Some people wont take over a 30-40 yrd shot, some will take 90+ who really cares, who r any of us to judge someone else and say what is or isnt ethical! GET OVER IT and mind ur own bisness!
Not saying that it is right to claim ur the original owner in this case but I do think the company should cover the bow to defects if it wasnt cause by the operator!
Just my 2 cents!

Man, some people don't get it. Honesty isn't reserved for the rich. Nor am I rich. A person can be honest and have a degree of dignity and be homeless. A person can be a millionaire and a liar and cheat. Most people respect honesty and will bend over backwards to help you if you'll simply be honest with them. Being honest isn't a weakness or Achilles Heel as some might expect. It's a blessing.

Am I on the wrong site. Is it forbidden for an archer to care for others and try to help others. For 18 years I was a Methodist Lay Speaker who occassionaly filled a pulpit when a pastor was absent. Today I'm Cumberland Presbyterian and still help out. My wife and I are involved in nursing home ministry. I was a baseball coach when my kids were little. I am a Past Master of my masonic lodge. I didn't do any of these things seeking praise. Some of us are simply volunteers. We enjoy helping others when we can. Would it be right for me to occassionaly stand in the pulpit if I wasn't that sort of person? Would our Lord refude to help a person in need? Enough preaching. I'm going to bed. Good night all.

No one that I know of. But it was jokingly insinuated that you would go to **** and you astutely remarked that only God has that authority. Any one can take my name in vein, but please not His. And no I didn't say you did that either.:D
