Tomorrow is Missouri's opening day! Who's taking the day (or more) off to go? Gun or bow? I'm packed up and ready, blind, calls, and GTO...first time I've ever tried spring turkey with a bow.

Man if I could just get out of work I'd be there in a hearbeat. Went this morning just to listen.
I acutally wrote a letter to the MDC last year asking them to start a archery only spring turk season like KS and NE. They said no. I'm going to write another this year and it'd be cool if others wrote too.
Good luck.

Thanks. Hope you can get out soon.
I've sent emails for the same. It would be nice to have an archery season prior to firearms.
Heading out to Grundy county to hunt tomorrow. Also, I'm with you on the archery only season.

Shot my first spring gobbler with a bow today. Three of them came in to the decoys first thing this morning. I actually missed my first shot at 20 yards when my bottom limb hit my leg, but they never flinched. Got one on the second shot at around 28 yards. The Striker broke his left wing and then punched through the chest, pretty much dropping him in place. He ended up snapping the arrow. It was awesome to watch them come in that close, I've never been so close before...the blind made all the difference.

I went on Monday and got a jake but wish I would have waited a little longer because my brother came over to where I was (after nearly getting shot by a trespasser, the neighbor no less) and we called together and called in another jake and two good sized birds. Only problem was the way we were set up I could see them but he couldn't. I used my shotgun because I've been shooting bad with my bow lately and just didn't trust my ability to make a good shot. Good luck with the rest of the season everyone.
Good job jimbow.

Of all the days for me to leave my video camera at home, we had 3 Toms come in together - all the same size. Jimbow made a great shot, guess I got Turkey fever cuz I missed mine, or maybe the GTO is just superior to my Rytera. Man it was awesome watching those birds run across the field to us. Next time we will have a camera that the batteries arent running out and get some pics in front of the blind.

I just talked to a gentleman from the Missouri Department of Conservation. He said to get as many people to write letters as possible about the spring archery only. If you guys know people that are interested it might be worth suggesting they write a letter..........or two.
