Here's a pic I found on a fishing site I go on. They were about 80 miles away from land. How scared would you be?

Its just a water spout. I have seen a couple while fishing in gulf of mexico. Pretty cool to see.

Seen two one day in the same storm. Cool to see as long as they are going the opposite direction.

Like said above they are very common in the Gulf down here. They are usally moving pretty slow and easy to avoid. Unless your young and dumb like I once was and have to take a closer look. Saw one come a ground across the sea wall in Galveston a few years back. It made a mess but luckily no one was hurt.
