Got to my hunting area about 10 minutes later than I had planned, but luckily the gobbler was still on roost as I slipped into my hunting spot. I called a couple times and he kept gobbling back so I felt pretty confident about this hunt producing a bird. As soon as I heard his wings beating I called one last time and suddenly there he was, a mear 12 yards away. Then out of the blue he started running straight at me!! I was trying to figure out what the :censored2: was going on. I saw something else to the right but didnt really pay any attention to what it was, figured it was just a jake or a hen. Anyways, the gobbler was like 5 feet away from me then suddenly took flight, thats when I figured out what was happening. What I was seeing was a coyote after my bird. He stopped right at 5 feet away from me also, then watched the turkey reroost. He then turned back and started trotting off, but at 10 yards away he stopped and looked straight back at me. It was to late though, I had already but the bead on it's ear. You could almost see it's expression change like " Oh :censored2: ". Number 4 magnums out of my 12 gauge did the job in short order. :thumb:
Now it was time to get my bird, I started calling again, and he would gobble back almost like nothing had ever happened. I then saw him, perched in a tree top about 35-40 yards in front of me. I was seriously thinking of shooting him out of tree, but that just feel right. :mad0215: After a good 25 minutes of trying to call him back down he took flight for his last time. As soon as his feet touched the ground I hit the call one last time. Thats all it took and he came in on a string, soon as he cleared some tree branches I gave him the same fate as that coyote. ;)

This turkey season has been pretty bad for me, I had plans of hunting out west on 3-4 different properties. We Got audited at the shop by Texas Railroad Commision, that has jurisdiction over everything that has to do with propane, anyways we have been working to get in compliance with them so we dont the :censored2: fined out of us, so that has put a major dampner on my hunting time on the weekends. I have 8 days left and may try one place out west next weekend, if not I guess I'll be back at the place that I will from now call "Tiko's Revenge", cause I know he hates coyotes as much, if not more than I do. :D
