Guys,

I am currently shooting a Pulse 28/70 Maxima 250 arrow which has a spine of .417. Im told I need a slightly more stiff spine. What would you sugest for my setup when I need new arrows?

Am I ok shooting these arrows until I need new ones?

I'm hoping you mean 28/70.
If that's it , I'm playing with the spine now. You'll need to go much stiffer.
I was shooting today, and a 350 Maxima Hunter cut 27" with a 100 grain tip is still weak from what I can tell. I'm getting a corkscrew arrow.
I think you'll have to go to a .320-.300 spine.
OT2 says .3179 as optimal for a 28/70 set up.

Yeah its 28/70.

I have noticed some corkscrew to the arrows too. Will shooting the 250's actually do anything bad to the bow.

No it won't hurt the bow.
It will be almost impossible to set the correct CS and tune it.

I agree the 250 are way to light. I am shooting the 350's from my 28.5/67# Hunter and there perfect. You might try the easton acc pro Hunters in the .340 spine. Cant go wrong with Maxima Hunters either.

I'm shooting 55/75 GoldTip XT's cut at 28" from my 29"/70#. They are shooting great to 50 yards. Haven't had a chance to go past 50 yet.

Ozzz, spine for XT 55/75 .400 . I for one love the XT's. They're tougher than Superman's knee cap and i've never once had an accuracy issue with them.

My Pulse and GT500 (both at 29"/70 lbs) shoots the CE Max. Hunter 350 (0.340 spine) cut to 28" pretty good but with some slight wobble. Switched to Gold Tip velocity XT 300 (0.300 spine) and it's flying like dart. Gold Tip velocity XT 300 is 8.5 grain/inch and about as light as they come for a 0.300 spine arrow. These arrows are also accurate, straight and super tough.

If you like CE, try the CE max. 350, not the hunter. It's lighter without the camo added. CE discontinued the CE max. this year but you can still find them. Used them on the Z28 (also 29"70 lbs) and had two of two complete through on elk and one pass through on a deer.

Good Luck.

I was able to get rid of the corkscrew( just like I figured) by turning down the Pulse to 67lbs. At 67 the Maxima Hunter 350's fly well. At 70lbs they would not.
I'll be going to a .300 spine shaft and back to 70lbs.

The spine for 75/95 XT's is .340 They may also be an option for you. My Pulse is actually pulling at 71lbs. and i'm not having a lick of problems with the 55/75's. Go figure.

With your specs the Maxima Hunter 350's would be fine at about a 26" raw shaft. Like everybody else has said .400 are to weak on spine.

Im thinking about the Gold Tip XT Hunters 7595 which is a spine of .340. Cut to 27 or 26 depending on what I can get away with. Im trying to save a little money overy the Maximas if I can.

Thanks for the help guys.

Also! Velocity Hunter and Velocity XT from GT offer a .300 spine. So right now I think its between the Hunter XT and Velocity XT or Hunter.

Let me know which way you guys think I should go.

.340 spine or .300

I want to keep this bad boy maxed out too if I can.

How long of arrow and what tip weight? If your going to shoot longer then 28 inch and 125gr tip 300, 100gr tip 340 spine. or if the arrow is under 28 inch 340 spine.

If you were to choose the Velocity 300's I would go with a 27" raw shaft 125gr tip

The GT 75/95 I would stay with 100 gr tip and a 26" raw shaft

I could probably go down to 26" as I am shooting 28" right now (nock throat to end of shaft) and have some arrow hanging off the end of my rest. I also will shoot a 100gr head, same as my broadheads. .340 probably the best idea?

I was shooting the 5575"s out of my Pulse @ 29/71. Accuracy was okay, but I just couldn't get it quite right. Went back to my 7595's and what a difference!!!

I was shooting spots, and once in awhile, I would get some flyers w/ 5575's.

All were cut at 29.25.

Sweet deal. My accuracy actually isnt terrible but I do see the corkscrew out sometimes, get some flyers and dont shoot great through paper.

Im pretty sure Im going to go with the 7595's cut to my draw which should be right around 26", maybe slightly over.

The arrow hanging an inch past the rest is perfect. You dont want it any shorter than that. I know people cut em shorter for speed but all the charts reccomend an inch- ish or a little more. Usually cutting em to your draw is right on. Dont ask me the exact reasoning behind it, its just what I have read everywhere about arrow length.

I get some flyers sometimes too, but it's usually my fault! :spank:

Yeah the broadhead clearance can become an issue as well. These arrows are shooting like darts out of my Pulse, very accurate. .347 spine cut to right around 28" and .001 straightness, cant go wrong!

Maybe Ill keep the 250's Ive got for varmit shootin or trick shots.

I just bought a half dozen acc pro hunters and they are great. I am shooting .340 spines out of my NBA Genetix. 68/29. Arrows are cut to 28 1/4. Bullet hole the first time.
I am gonna be writing a review soon comparing the Genetix to the Hunter. I know the specs are a little different but it will be informarion none the less.

Im shooting Maxima 250's, 100 grain tips, 28" draw 60 lbs, shoots absolutely perfect, but i was thinking of trying something with a hair more GPI, for shits and giggles.
