I was over on AT today and it appears that not to many Mathews guys are too impressed with the new line up out. their bows are going for $1000 too. sure glad I jumped ship and came aboard over here and joined the A team!

Elite wins the 2011 World Series! Oh, wait, this is archery, not baseball. Oh well, Elite still has the best line-up for 2011, in my humble opinion.

truer words have never been spoken :buddies:
Smart, I bet 80% of the EA family shot "M" bows at one time or another. ( I did )
M makes a great bow; however there are other bows on the planet that perform just as well , and feel better in your hand
glad I saw the light and made the switch

I don't know how those bows shoot or feel but man they have got to be the ugliest bows I have ever seen.

Yea, Matt opened a can of ugly and it spilled all over Mathews Engineering department. Bummer!
I had my 11 year-old daughter look at a Pure and the Z7 Extreme and asked her, "what bow would you buy?". She chose the Pure...smart girl!! She didn't like the grids in the M-bow riser or the chunky portion of the riser near the limb pockets.
Oh well, can't wait for the Pure to arrive!

Those Mathews bows are just not that much better than the competition and I'm NOT gonna pay the extra 2 and 300 dollars for the name.

I think they have good reason to be upset. Same thing Mathews does every year after a new release. add an XT and a LD model of the same bow. Must be working for them though.
I can just see trying to shoot a 32 inch ATA bow at 30.5 Dl. Sling shot arrow launcher.:)

The BEST hunting bow they ever built was the Switchback. They have not made anything as good before or after it was released in 2005. I had two of them and killed many animals with them too. Once I tried an Elite back in early 07 I've never ever considered any other brand. Now that Pete and crew has taken over, all the QC issues are gone and if you do have a problem there's that great customer service. Long live ELITE!!!!.....E4L

That was my first thought also, the z9 is 30 inches ATA and will go out to a 32 inch draw. That would be tough to shoot.

You have to go farther back than the switchback. Their best bow was a Q2 IMO.

I have no idea why people are complaining about 2011 Mathews bows. They are pricey, but the Z7 format is excellent, and now an archer has 5 different choices based on that platform:
basic
super short
long draw
easy, smooth draw
super fast single cam
The Z7 is one heck of a nice shooting bow.
Then they returned possibly their best shooting bow ever, the Drenalin (DR2) for one more year. Plus the other bunch of bows they have in the Monster series and others.
I think Mathews has the best selection of bows for 2011 so far, they have everything someone would look for. If you can't find something to like from their wide selection of lineup......
Congrats to Matt McPherson and Mathews.

I like Mathews, they do more for Kids and archery education than ALL other companies combined I bet.
If I had to, I could shoot their bows. But I don't HAVE to so....
I do have a genesis, which I love, a few yrs till it fits girl. I set it up for 20 yrds, I bet I could shoot a decent round with it.

I don't know... I just got my NASP certification. Shooting without a sight and release, that's a whole pile harder than you would think.
Don't get me wrong, it was a blast. But it was also challenging.

This was kinda my thought when I saw their lineup, I've shot the Z7 and kinda liked it and it's a pretty good platform to start from. Don't like the Monsters though thought the Z was much better.
Texas, they actually still have the Switchback but it's in their Mission line and a good price as well five something or other. If I lost my mind and decided to go back to Mathews I'd shoot it.

That goes without saying, a man can't change his blood.
Besides, being Celtic, who would want to change?

I think they should have taken into account that not all of us like the Z7. Their entire line-up is based on it. I had one and I wasn't accurate with it at all. It felt great but I just couldn't get comfortable with it. I sold it and bought a Z28. Very, very, very good move on my part.

what about the Monster series?
What about DR2?
What about Hyperlite?
What about Conquest?
What about prestige?
What about Mission Bow lineup containing old Switchback bows?

I have two Mathews and I like them both. I wanted to try an Elite so I bought a used Z28 (big mistake) it is faster but no way is it quieter than my Switchback XT. Maybe it need a tune up or a new home.

My thoughts exactly. I can just imagine some new guy torquing the bow and the string rides right out of the track. good thing they come with warranty

If your Z-28 is noisy, it needs one of two things.
Take the string stop out, and fill the void in the riser with rubber (I used chopped up elastics in my Judge, :)), then make sure that when you re-install the stringstop you leave about a credit cards width between the string and the stop.
If that doesn't take care of the noise issue for you, then it will take a tune job (I recomend Maybee-R here on this forum).
The Z-28 by nature is as silent as a bow can be.

They simply do not have a bow that fits what I am looking for. A hunting bow around 36" ATA 7" brace and good speed at 31.5" draw.
Monster 7 too short,
conquest triumph good draw length but not fond of the riser and its 39" ata. A bit too long. and its 1299msrp. Speed not impressive.
Hyperlite = too little
DR2 - Like the riser but a touch short ATA and draw too short.
Switchback - I am not stepping back in time.
Prestige - too little
Z9 - 30" ATA with a 31.5 or 32" draw - wow the string angle! Nope not interested.
If they would build even a z7 with 35" ata that had 31.5" draw and preferably the DR2 riser, I would be interested enough to go shoot.

I am not a fan of the design. There are some fantastic looking bows on the market, and then there are some that are drastically challenged in the cosmetic dept. I shot the Z7 in the shop last fall, and thought it drew and shot nice enough though. Not for me, even setting aside looks, but a pleasant enough bow to shoot. No competition to Elite and some of the others though, for my taste that is.

I was a huge fanboy a few years ago but it seemed every time I would go hunting on opening day I would have a cracked limb went through a lot of limbs on the dren not sold on the thin limb and the QCC noises quality went down hill after the SB I owned two of them as well don't own a M any more and won't own one this year glad I switched my user name now I have to do that on AT lol
