Here's some better pics. I watched the herd the night before till dark. This was the biggest buck I saw while I was out there. I saw about 70 head the whole trip, 8 or 9 of which were bucks.......and one camel:scratchhead:
The heard came in to 225 yards from my "sniper" hill and I "Smashed:D" him. It was some crazy hunting. You could watch antelope at 1000+ yards. They looked loke tiny white dots.

My father used to do alot of hunting out west and I always thought the antelope was some of the best eating game out there.

That antelope hunting is addictive. I'm planning an antelope bowhunt 2011. It seems like it'd be hard as :censored2: to connect with a bow.

Do you plan on going back to the same place? What was the deal there...did you have to draw a tag? Could you bow hunt and take your rifle along for the last couple of days if you didn't connect with the bow or are they different seasons?
P.Smash
09-13-2010, 11:51 AM
The hunt I drew was a "once in a lifetime" rifle tag. Residents only can apply and if you draw one you cant put in again, ever. You can buy an over the counter archery tag. The season is only in two panhandle counties in OK and is two weeks long. There is some public grassland to hunt or you can obtain landowner permission to hunt private land......which I have:D I also have several other contacts to gain access to other ranches in the area. It was really a cheap trip, since I have a lifetime hunting liscence I dont have to buy a tag.
Awesome animal. What did you do with the scrotum? I would have saved it and made a snuff pouch out of it.:toothless:
Are you serious about you can never apply for a rifle tag again? That seems strange but maye its cause of animal population compared to human population.
Now the true million dollar question.......How much does the land owner want to let me come and hunt that camel? I wanna shoot one of them with a bow so bad.

Here's your camel Sean, he was in a pasture in Texas county. I dont know why but it struck me funny so I took this pic. You dont see free range camels everyday
The OK antelope rifle tag is one per lifetime. I'll be back with a bow though.

Did you see any camel toe out there on your trip?
Not really, not too populated out there. Most were senior citizens. Camel toe from a "bladder control undergarment" is not my thing. Nothing that had a heart like Sean's woman!

He saw at least 8 and even got a pic to prove it, although I suspect that isn't the camel toe you are referring to. :D

I dont know what the deal on the camel was, suprising to see one beside the road like that.
Thanks Lonny. He's not a monster, but he was the biggest one I saw while hunting. I'm pretty pleased :)
No I dont have a side view right now. His head's in the freezer. I'm caping him out this weekend, I'll try to remember to get a pic.

The Eastern side of OK looks NOTHING like the Western side. I'm in the Ozarks (a small mountain range that stretches into Arkansas), it's fairly hilly and heavily timbered. Also has some of the clearest and prettiest water around.

Yeah, same hills. About 80-90 miles NE of me.....and yes we have some outstanding smallie streams. Lake Tenkiller is my home lake. It's fed by some great smallmouth streams and rivers. Clearest water in OK. In the next few years the state record smallmouth will come out of Tenkiller, you can write that down. I may even be the one catch it! :D
As for the golf.....I dont play. The few times I have been golfing, I was wanting to fish the ponds, shoot the rabbits and gig the frogs instead of chase the ball.

Bella Vista is about an hour from me. Yep, same Ozark mountains run through here on in to Missouri.
Come on down some time. I can put you on some German Shepherd size deer. They are easy to pack out, just put them in your pocket and start walking. :censored2:

No, he has a high fence around his property at his house, about 100 acres. He has some pet elk that occasionally get out and the hillbillys around here whack them as soon as they step out. He has a 2000 acre ranch is SE Oklahoma but it's not high fence. I mounted a 160 inch buck that came from the ranch 2 years ago. I friend of his killed it during rifle season.
