you know im actually kind of disapointed. with all the hype on here about it i was expecting something like 360fps-370 fps. all the hype for a bow that is actually rated slower than the envy. its a nice looking bow and all but i think i like the envy alot better. plus the envy has more vibration dampening on it.

String nocks look the same as the ones in the xt pics.I would say the riser is a little moore deflexed and the limb deflection and angle is a little different that is were the extra 10 fps comes in it is a nice bow.I was hoping for something a little faster but i guess this will have to do ok i need a dealer that will take my AT Synergy on trade for a new GTO.

That is one sweet looking bow & the specs cover a full range of shooters! I got a couple of local dealers getting Elites, but one is not placing an order until the GTO is ready for production. I'm assuming that since the Envy had all the gold/copper coloring that was part of the "limited edition" package? I do like the cut outs on the riser of the new GTO as it looks similiar to the Fire. Will the speed be 4fps less on 60 lb limbs?

For those of you saying you expected more, go shoot any bow you can find compared to the GTO at the same measured draw length and draw weight, and then decide for yourself if it measures up to your criteria of FAST.
The GTO draw lengths are +/- .125 within AMO standards, AMO draw length is measured from the pivot point of the grip to the valley at full draw, plus 1 3/4". A bow with an AMO draw length of 29" would measure 27 1/4" to the grip at full draw.
When comparing bows for speed make sure the measured draw length is the same as the stated draw length.
The GTO riser has .305 less reflex than an 07" Envy so it will be a little more forgiving, it is faster than an Envy at any measured draw length by about 4-5 fps, this is also with 80% let off.
Our reps that have shot the GTO think the GTO is easier and smoother to draw than a 08' Synergy Xtreme.

To me, my envy is smoother. My switchback falls off hard. The Envy is firm to the back wall, with a small valley. It was different at first, but I like it a lot better now.

I got rid of both my Switchbacks to get Elite bows. The draw is a little stiffer but its not harsh by any measure. People think that to get the speed that these bows produce it will pull your arm off to draw it back but that couldn't further from the truth. I've got a 70lb Synergy that I really enjoy shooting. Once you get used to the draw you forget what the Switchback even felt like.

I am definitely happy about the DLs being that close to AMO standards. Too many of the bow companies are just making the bows DL longer without saying its any longer to exaggerate their speeds.
That is why I made the draw lengths AMO, I know it is depressing for people to purchase a bow because of a SPEED rating then realize you have to drop down a 1/2" or more shorter mod or cam, the speed you were so proud of now is a lot slower than you were expecting. I want the person who spends their hard earned money on an Elite product to be happy with their purchase.:D

For those of you that like me love Kinetic Energy, I was playing around last week and decided to shoot a variety of arrow eights out of a GTO, here are the results.
70# 29" draw
350 gr= 337 fps
400 gr= 318 fps
450 gr= 301 fps
848 gr= 223 fps
70# 30" draw
350 gr= 352 fps
400 gr= 332 fps
450 gr= 313 fps
848 gr= 235 fps
I think these are sufficient for any game most of you hunt.

I have a question for Brad or Kevin. Is the GTO going to be made in a L.H. version? Which Elite's are going to be offered in L.H. ?
I'm almost 100% positive that all models will be offered in the left hand version.

I'd like to know the availability of lefty versions of the GTO. When you guys gonna have them ready?
Also... when are you guys switching camo patterns to G1 (as someone stated in another thread)?
Thanks.

Welcome ZA...glad you could make it:cool: There are already bows going out in the G1 camo. IE Synergy Xtreme. As I have heard they are going to fase out the Fall Leaf next month I believe which saddens me because it is a very unique pattern. I believe you can still get it if ordered now but it won't be around for long. It must be tough being a lefty shooter and harder to get bows but the wait in this case may be worth it. Take care.

First timer. Bought a Synergy earlier this year and am not looking back. Greatest bow I have ever owned and I have owned allot. I was able to harvest the best buck I have ever taken this year. "Synergized" on 11/05/07
You now have me looking at the GTO and I am thinking Mrs. Claus just may have to deliver a beautiful bouncing new bow for Christmas.

I have been shooting single cams for several years, how do these elite binary cams draw vs. my 05' Switchback? Anyone shot the switchback vs. an elite?
My dad always said the only dumb question is a question not asked..;)
In my opinion the the draw cycle is totally different on a switchback in comparison to any Binary cam bow. The draw cycle is stiffer on the Synergy but I have become quite comfortable with the back wall on this bow and the speed is not even comparable from a single cam to the binary. If you have shot nothing but single cams in the past few years then you will most likely have to give it 1 -2 weeks of becomiing comfortable but after that I doubt that you will miss your switchback.

Kevin,
Do you find the two rubber dampers on the limb pocket locking bolts to work better than the one in the pocket?
disturbed13
11-29-2007, 05:28 PM
it should
seeing as the rotating limb pockets act like a lever with the limb inside
when the arrow is shot
and the cams go up
the 'bolt end' would transfer alot of the power to the riser
thats power with vibration
now if there was some way to completely isolate the 'bolt end' of the limb and the bolt
you would erase almost all of the vibration that would have been produced by the shot
thats how i see it

OK, I have never actually measured my bow at full draw. I shoot a Switchback at 28" DL. So would it be correct for me to shoot 29 3/4" DL on a 2008 Elite?

No, it will still be a 28. If you measure true draw of the Matthews it will probably be around 26.25-27, I don't know if they run long or not, it should be right at 26.25"

I thought I would share this. Here are some numbers I asked Kevin for at 28" DL.
The GTO shot the following:
60# 28"
300 gr= 322 fps 69.0 K.E.
360 gr= 300 fps 71.96 K.E.
375 gr= 294 fps 71.99 K.E.
400 gr= 286 fps 72.67 K.E.
I want to order one..wish there was a spec sheet...have an Aigil which i have not even broken in yet; but I am ready to by one of these (GTOs)..what kind of speed should i be getting with a 28" dl and a 5gpp, or 7 gpp arrow?

On the other elites it shows a 4fps loss due to 60lb limbs, so you should see the same with this bow. I am soooo pumped for this bow, those speeds are great!

Ok now I am confused with my draw lengths. I just put my tribute and Synergy on my draw board and measured from the deepest part of the grip to the string. On both bows it measured 27 1/4 inches. On both of these bows I have them set for a 28" DL. Why is it 3/4 inch off? And when I go to order a GTO what should I get?
Michael
12-08-2007, 10:24 AM
If you are not over drawing it, that would be a 29" DL, but if you always shoot a 28, I think that is what I would order. Maybe order an additional set of 29" mods too, if you are not comfortable with your DL selection.
lunghit
12-08-2007, 10:37 AM
OK. I think I will order the extra mods to go with it. I just looked at my Synergy and I am shooting it on the # 5 spot which is 28 1/2 " DL not 28, my mistake. My pro shop measured me with the wingspan method and said I have a 29 inch DL but I feel better at 28 1/2.
Michael
12-08-2007, 10:42 AM
If you are set at 28.5, and your measurment is 27.25, I would order the GTO at 29. If the GTOs are set to AMO, then you will be fine, because that is where you are now.
27.25 + 1.75 = 29
You are set at 28.5 now which would look something like this.
28.5 - 1.75 = 26.75 + 1.75 + .5 for the manufacturer stretching the limits to keep speed up = 29:D

Hello!
I am new to this forum,& I have been a Hoyt shooter for the past 7 years. I am not prejudice to any bow manufacture, but I have been loyal to hoyt. I have been looking at a lot of bows lately,& I had a chance to shoot some new hoyt & bowtech & PSE. I absolutely loved the 82nd airborne & the General from Bowtech. I thought I was going to buy one of these ,but I have heard a lot of rave here lately on the Elite GTO,and I would love to know how quiet this bow is,compared to the Bowtechs, what quality are the strings&cables, accuacy & so on and so forth. I live near Billings Montana & the nearest dealer is in Threeforks, which is about 150 miles away. If I can get enough positive feed back,I will call that dealer & ask if he has a GTO I could shoot.
Any & all info would be gratly appreciated , thank you
Guys, I'm hoping the GTO will make it in the 2008 blindfolded bow test. As I know readers have to vote for bows to be tested. Last year the Syngergy smoked all but the X-Force. (in terms of speed).

I had Mathews and Hoyts. The Elites have been faster and easier to shoot than any bow I have ever owned. The components are top shelf and the service from Elite has no peer. I own two Synergys and have been placing mostly 2nd, 1st now and then at 3_d competions. For an old guy thats good stuff. The nock travel on an Elite is FAR superior to any Hoyt two cam bow. I have checked all the 2007 bows on a nock travel machine that I designed and built. The Elite draw cycle is smooth for a high performance bow and it is a rocket to shoot. It stays in tune also, does not need constant tweaking to maintain peek performance.
I have ordered, sight unseen, a new GTO. Will report on that when I get it. I have high expectations and expect Elite to deliver..again!
Good luck

I think Elite should have sent out Demo GTOs to their dealers first. I know that is hard to do when you have paying customers. Their is allot more customers that would Order these bows if you could test shoot them first.

Until now that is. I am not loyal to one company but everytime that I compared bows, I always left with the newest Hoyt. Last weekend I had the pleasure of shooting Tuskbuster's GTO and although I had to drive for an hour and a half it was worth going twice that far. I have never been so impressed by a bows performance as I was that day. I really didnt want to spend more money this soon after Christmas but couldnt help it. When my GTO gets in we are ordering one for my better half. Thanks to Tuskbuster for being so Kind. Two more Bowhunters have now been converted to Elite.

I just bought one sight unseen, and should be able to pick it up in a few days. Hope it's everything i've read about and a bag of chips, lol! I'm sure i won't miss my Drenalin after next week, it was a great bow, but more speed is needed! Yes, i've got the need for speed, reason why my friends call me speedracer at the shop, lol.

If you have a Elite dealer close to you go shoot the Elite line and I think you will be a convert like me. I have shot Mathews for the past 12 years and awaiting my first Elite (GTO). From the first shot I was very shocked at how nice they are.

I'd like to see some brighter color strings. Red/Green , Yellow/ Red , etc.
Nothing too,too bright like neons. Something that won't scare a deer though.

I have bought and paid for my GTO sight unseen and have never shot any Elite bows before. It will be a couple of weeks before it gets here. If you guys knew me, you would know what a big deal this is. My wife says that I am the cheapest SOB that ever walked the face of the earth. I prefer "dilligent about my finances". To order a bow without shooting 10 arrows out of it at least 10 times on seperate occations is unheard of for me. This bow and the reveiws on it have given me the Elite bug. I sure hope it will be well worth it.
