View Full Version : At what point does one have too many bows

Over the years of hunting I've accrued a number of guns, don't really know why but I did. There are so many different guns for different purposes, that seems normal. Why then do I feel like I should only have so many bows, or at least sell one before I buy another. So the question is how many is too many?

I think bows are more difficult to shoot well. So it makes sense to have 1 or 2 maybe 3 bows for the archery venues one shoots.
Me personally only shoot 1 bow as I dont take targets that serious, I shootem but not so serious I need a different bow.

You may have to many if you have to justify why you need another.:D
I have 4 for different reasons. I sold one so I could get another.
When your kids ( grandkids) come up and say papa you already have 4 you know you may be going overboard a little.( I'm talking personal Bows.) someone that is selling or trading bows the more the merrier.:)

I've got a friend I shoot with locally he has 19 as of today. He doesn't usually sell them and its all he does. He's divorced, no kids, just works and shoots and buys the latest and greatest as soon as they come out. Oh, and he's lefty, so it's not as easy to sell them.

Amen! I can pick up her vibes when she glances over at my archery bench in the garage...........She knows two should be on the rack.
For that reason, I keep the double bow case under the bench;)....Those camo bows all look alike, I will never but target colors anymore!

The only downside to bows is that they quickly loose value as compared to guns which hold or even increase thiers. If I could get the same price out of a bow 10 years later I think I would have a bunch.

I have 3 bows now and I am about to order a new one. The way I look at it it is like my guns you can't ever get to many.

I only have 2, before I buy another I would like to sell my old one. I wish bow's held their value longer like guns, if that was the case I would have many more!

When you can no longer convince even yourself of an excuse to get a new one. You know I need a ...longer one, faster one, shorter one, At Edition, camo, Short At, Long AT, Short camo, Long camo, Single cam, dual cam, Binary, 8" brace, 7" brace, 7.5" brace. I can still come up with a few more, I think I came up with fifteen.

The sick part is that I can twist the facts and justify the need! I have a Hoyt Protec that I can sell once the XL arrives............

By looking at your 07 kills, I think you have more than 1 perk!

I do the Mr. Mom thing too. I had to travel extensivley for too many years, now my office is in my house, so I get to spend time with my son, it's a good deal for me. I work when I want too, and play if I want too.

Maybe you should offer a planning seminar. I can never find the time to hunt. This year has been different though... my son won't let me get out of it, and I have scaled back my work load for the fall, so I could play a little. This is the first year out of the last 9 that I have taken any time off. After Thanksgiving, it's back to business as usual... well almost.
