For those of you who work for someone else, what kind of raise is an acceptable percentage for a good employee?
I see a wide range of numbers going out through my company and I just wondered what the "Eliteists" of the world thought.

typically, our company gives 5 - 10%. i've never heard anyone getting more than 10%, unless they were promoted to a management position.

at the department here for an annual evaluation it's 5-8%, if you get a promotion to a new position it's in the 10-14% range. once you get past Lieutenant it jumps to 18-22%. the higher you jump in the organization the higher the percentage increase.

A very good raise can be achieved by putting a thumb tack in a chair and sitting on it.:loco:

...the first thing that is considered is the company profit for the term/year/etc. This will determine how much total money may be allocated for group/employee performance compensation increases. Then from that point, it is generally up to management to determine what the denominations will be per work group, and then finally, the employees' individual contributions are taken into account. Of course there may be an exception or two, but by and large, this is how it's broken down. The individual employee is generally the last factor in the equation, taken into consideration after all the other factors have been derived. So, if there is no money left over, then you might not get a raise at all. If there is excess (rarely these days), then a fairly standard raise for lower-tier employees is 3-6%, and management or second-tier employees are 3-8 or 9%, and third+ can be anywhere from 5-17%, with a standard raise being in the neighborhood of 10-12%.
Or, at least, this has always been the case in the several organizations where I've worked...
Hope that helps...

I am a state employee and last year we got 3%. However I would say that 5 - 10% is average.

It seems like those raises are becoming more and more common, and less involving money...assume the position...:moon:
Seems like they always say the check's in the mail...:nomail:

I would say that a minimum of about 5% is a good starting point.
