We went to the Ranch on Saturday as our annual family outing. My 12 year old son, wife and me. I have been taking my son hunting with me since he was 6 years old and started teaching him how to shoot a rifle at age 8. He took his first deer at age 8 with a youth model single shot .223 and the doe dropped in her tracks. His only other deer was taken at age 10 and it was a spike taken with a Winchester .243. This weekend he had his best hunting outing yet as he took two does with his .243. We could not be prouder of him. What makes this so special to me is his interest in hunting and its something that he will carry on when it is getting harder to recruit new hunters. He has a genuine interest in archery and even has his own bow but since he is not proficient enough yet, he gun hunts which is fine by me until he is ready to bowhunt. Notice he is wearing his Elite Archery camo hat so maybe he'll be bowhunting next year:thumb: Sure makes Daddy proud!!!!

Yep my son has two down to my one. I'm going back tomorrow night so maybe I can even the score LOLOL. The one he shot last night was right in the heart and I mean a perfect shot for a kid that was shaking like a tree. Little deer fever haha but when it was all over I had a grin from ear to ear!!!

Cord...the first (Picture) one went 15 yards and the 2nd went 20 yards. He really put the smackdown on those does. The ballistic silvertips did an exceptionally good job and the blood loss was unbelievable. Can you tell how proud of him that I am?:cheese:

He didn't say anything other than "Mr. Lonnie" is on the phone. He's a good kid and doesn't take things bad.
