Its been a wacky rut here in Virginia this year...not many rubs, scrapes, or big buck sightings. Bow season flew right by and ML started before the rut even kicked in. Anyhow, I likes to mix it up a bit with weapons...and after paying the coin on my TC Pro Hunter, Im not about to let that gorgeous gun collect dust.
I saw my first decent chase of the season around 8:30am...a little basket rack ran two does within 15yds of my tree...he was grunting the every couple steps. He got the adrenaline flowing coming in but it was a big let down when I saw there wasnt much to his rack. I kept looking in the direction they came from and about 30min later the big 8 showed up (I think) cold trailing the chase. I didnt want to chance him not coming the same way...all he had to do was move a few yds to his right and he could of disappeared forever. I opted to merp him at 70yds when he turned broadside, pulled da trigger, and BOOM!!!...white belly:D
...a short 30yds drag and 20min later he was in da truck!:velo1:

Thanks all! ...it had been a slow year on the trophy front. Im totally psyched to be blessed with the opportunity to even see this deer, much less crush his front shoulders and drop him in his tracks.:)
Ive got a couple more pics of him and im bored sitting out the rain...so please keep the pats coming as well as any questions. The questions dont even have to be about the deer...im welcoming off-topic questions ranging from different ML loads/grouping - all the way to topics of a taboo sexual nature (within the rules of the forum). All pats and questions welcome!:thumb:

If you can see the little red dot on his shoulder, thats the entry...

Awesome job man! Gotta love some muzzleloader slammage. He's sure got long main beams and good mass. That's a great way to break in a new boomstick.

That stings a little, you got me! ...I had to do some digging but I found the movie I made that supports your side of our highly publicized debate.:o However, I think we all know I was referring to does and dinks. In Virginia, bucks like these only come along once in a lifetime...but fortunately for me ive killed several once in a lifetime bucks.:D

Cordy..you'd be proud. I'm actually taking a kid turkey hunting next Wednesday. His dad is recovering from an injury and will be in recovery for a good while. His dad also is not a hunter but his boy loves it and rarely gets an invite. He has never harvested anything and his heart's desire is to take a turkey! I'm hoping to get this young man his first hunting success EVER! I will have him using a shotgun so it should be a piece of cake! :haha:
P Smash, I examined your last post.....no spelling errors for once....well actually I'm letting the "gonna" slip by this time!! :)

Thanks for cutting me some slack, I type like I talk, so "gonna" is a proper word in my language :thumb:
Here are some other translations:
Gimme= give me
Feller= fellow
holler= hollow
Killage= the act of killing
Smokin= hot
Gotta= got to OR have to
Slammage= a bullet passing through something
Kinda= kind of OR sort of

If its gonna be a piece of cake, id call it killing instead of hunting. ...and just some good mentor advice; if this kid loves hunting like you say he does, he better not have a coke in his hand when he comes out da house...if he does, leave him crying in the driveway and go kill his bird.:thumb:

I got my mount back yesterday. Record time...I usually have to wait about a year but this taxi has an 'old school' method.:noidea:
Anyhow, im pleased with the work and the price...$350 total. My old taxi charges twice that nowadays...I was about to chop this things head off to do a euro when a friend told me to take it to Bobby Joyner in Louisa County thats only about 5 miles from a spot I hunt.
Check em out...
