View Full Version : 07 synergy vs. 08 extreme

Shot the two side by side tonight. The extreme does pull A LOT nicer. The 07 loads way up at the end and then drops off, where the 08 pulls very smooth all the way and has no big drop at the end. Speeds were very close.
07 synergy
71lbs
29" draw
350gr arrow
meta peep and loop
322-325fps
08 extreme
70lbs
28.5" draw
same arrow
meta peep and loop
317-320fps
Overall the 07 was a few fps faster, but that was with a half in more draw and pulling 1 pound heavier. The draw on the 08 extreme is night and day compared to the 07 though!
Just for fun we put the 07 at 30" draw and shot the 350gr arrow, it hit 340fps with the peep and loop!!! That is crazy fast! It was right after tuning it though!
If anyone is thinking of trading the 07 for the 08, it really is a much better pull. Still stiff, but way better than the 07.

Thanks for the review, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I've not shot the XT but I didn't get the 07 Synergy cause I didn't like the pull at the end of the cycle. I took it on faith that the draw is smoother. This is great to hear. When you say "stiff", compare it to something else you have shot, does anything come to mind?

Darn, 340 is wild! What I really need is some kinda of arm length growth supplement and mechanical arm stretcher so I can get above my puny 26" draw and shoot some real speeds.

It's funny there's a thread on AT where the guys claims totally the opposite. Said the 07 was smoother and the 08 had a big lump at the end of the draw.

When I say stiff, I would say it is like the guardian. The fact that it is sooooo smooth, with no humps all the way, makes it a very nice draw. The 07 you can really feal stack up at the end, and then it drops off. The 08 will not do that, it is sweet.
I set up both the 07, and 08 up so they were both tuned to perfection. It sounds like the guy over on AT had some issues.

AA...on my 07's I don't feel that the draw is that tough at all. Coming from a Switchback the draw is certainly stiffer but is very constant to me. I don't feel that big fall off as you put it when the bow hits let off. At least its not like a Hoyt Trykon or Iron Mace where you get to the let off and then ker-plunk (don't know how to describe it otherwise:D) Funny thing about feel with a bow, everybody has a different perspective.

I agree with the guy at AT, if the draw stop is not correct it will feel heavy. I like the fact that you say its like the guardian, I can relate to that.

Jeff told me they were faster that he would never build anything slower.I am quite fond of my synergy and if it is faster then i will never buy the xt.If it is just smoother and not faster i will save my self some money and keep mine or wait on the envy replacement.

It is not going to be faster, probably the very close to the exact same speed. Just much smoother.

I have an E-500 and a Synergy extreme and shot them both through my chrono.
E-500 27" draw at 60 pounds (500 mods), trophy taker, loop, peep, leeches = 276 fps
Synergy Extreme 27" draw 60 pounds, limb driver, loop, peep, leeches = 267 fps

Hello. Any one willing to take a guess at when the Synergy Extreme will land in South Africa, I am champing at the bit as it will be my first bow ever. I am a converting rifle hunter.

Tha'ts interesting, the same wieght arrow I shoot for targets. I wonder how much speed an extra 2 inches would add?
