Coyotes

The past two weekends here in Illinois I have been out for the ol brush dog. The farmer that is allowing me to hunt on his land has had problems with coyotes attacking his sheep, chickens, etc. I called in a fox last weekend, and this morning ( I just got back home) I called in a pair of coyotes. One was way too far behind the lead one. I was only thinking of drawing back and POOOOOF gone. These are hard to do with the old bow in hand. I hunted from sunrise untill 8:34 A.M. Anyone else having luck on these during the day?

There are a couple of things you could try to stack the odds in your favor. first try it with a buddy, set him up about 30 yards in front of you as the ol coy dog will key in on the caller this should open up some shot oppertunitys. Another trick is to get a moving decoy they make rabbits and the like but are costly a simple stuffed animal that you can make move works just fine.The coyote is a smart one don"t underestimate him. After all the Native Americans don't call him the trickster foe nothing. Good luck and keep after those buggers could help your hunting if you take a few out of your hunting area.

like said try to move the call a good distance away from you and get a fake decoy to move or even buy a pet shop rabbit and tie it on a string and let it hop around in a open field will work

i bait them with deer carcusses and meaty bones,play the wind and lay the smack down,works pretty good for me.my tree stand is abou:rockon:t 40 yards away not a problem with the bow.

broken rack that great advise except in the state of illinois you can not legally shoot a yote from a treestand. This makes things alittle tougher.:fight:
