Looks like a lot of you guys fish the sweet water but how many of you fish the salt!! Don't get me wrong....fresh water fishing is fun, especially with a fly rod or light tackle....I've have caught more bass on light tackle than I can remember. My best bass day with a buddy was 55 bass in one day, 42 releases and my best bass that day was 9.8lbs. Caught them all on 6 lb test. Also caught 22 Chain Pickerel that day and released 18 of those (all caught on 8 lb test).....plus 15 big bluegill to boot!
But this is what I really love to do!! Caught all the Kings and the Blackfin Tuna on 15 and 20 lb class line. The snapper and grouper we fished heavy tackle to get down 160 ft and get them back up. Bottom bumpin will wear your butt out.
PS...my bride caught the 35 lb Blackfin on 15 lb spinning and it took her about 25 minutes to land it!!

Nice fish, looks like a good day on the water. I caught a 42lb amberjack in the gulf a few years ago. That thing felt like I'd hooked a Volkswagon.

AJ's are definitely some of the hardest fighting fish out there. I love them smoked even though many will tell you "don't eat them...they have worms" Then after you leave them on the dock to be disposed of...they take em home and smoke them. I live AJ's far better than Kingfish!! 42 lber is a mule P....good job!

Nice catches ND!:thumb: I dont care much for salt water fishing. The last time we went out I puked all over the boat and only caught about 7 mahi-mahi. I kinda caught a white marlin but I had to back way up when the thing got close to the boat so the deckhand could grab the leader...I never even saw or put a hand on the fish.
Id rather go after those big Fla strain bass. I used to walk the banks of a couple lakes down close to Naples near Immokalee. Awesome, AWESOME fishing! ...just had to watch out for da :censored2: fire ants.

I'm up in PA right now but the boys back home are slaying the AJ's , kings, and the snapper. The Cobia are moving out but were red hot two weeks ago. Tarpon are showing up in big numbers and the big Beach kings are getting hot. The flouder began to show last week at the inlets and should only get better!! Tight lines guys!!

Gosh I havent got to fish in the salt in about a year or so. Did get the cast nets out the other day and had a pratice session. Funny how people look at you when your throwing a cast net out of the back of a superduty.

Starting October 10th, I will be at Topsail Hill Preserve outside of Destin for 2 weeks. I'll probably have to fish every day. Someone has to do it. I might sneak over to Panama City and see Baygunner and Capt. Ray.

Thanks for the pics. Natural Dad. Looks like you folks had a great time with huge success. :)
Nice catch! I was in the Outer Banks last week and I was supposed to go out to the gulf stream for fishing that didn't pan out. I did do quite a bit of surf fishing though and caught some whiting and spot.
