View Full Version : Contemplating a new sight
So I started looking at the Sure-Loc sights and thought it would be cool to have a 5 pin with ease of adjustment of a slider. Low and behold they have the LW Max. I could then at a later date put a scope on it for target shooting. As I was looking at their web sight more I started thinking since all the Sure-loc parts are interchangeable why not just go for a full target set-up. Get a 9" Supreme 400 with a 5 pin and then later get the scope for it. Am I not thinking correctly or would this be a wicked set-up. Is the extra $$$ spent on the Supreme 400 vs. the LW Max really worth it?

I'm not opposed to suggestions. the Titan or the Trident? then add scope or pins. I've heard Sword makes a great sight. Looks tough enough to be used for hunting. WOW just looked at the $$$ from LAS, much more affordable. Where can I get the pin housing for the Titan?

my price tag is different, but I will let you know what yours will be soon,
I asked Michael from Terminal Velocity to hook me up, for what I know, you can have the 1.75" or the 2.25" housing with any pin size you want, i ordered mine with the 2.25" guard and .010 pin, mine comes in Thursday.
from what I understand, you may be able to swap guards if you want to.
more details soon , I'll talk to Michael tomorrow.

First you need to tell us what you are trying to do with the sight??? IT sounds like you might be needing two??
I have a Surloc LW MAX, copperjohn, Axcel, Spot hoggs. and I have looked at the Swords.
What do you want to know?
I have opinions on all of these products some good some bad..
Need to know what shoots/categories you are looking to cover. How many bows you have to do the work etc.

Initially I was looking at the LW Max to have a 5 pin sight for hunting, b/c of the slide ability I could then practice out to 100-120 yards. I then saw that all of the Sure-Loc parts were interchangeable, thus with the LW Max I could get a scope for target season(3-D and spots). THen I started thinking why not just get a Supreme 400 and mount a 5-pin housing to it, then when I had the $$$ I could get a scope for it and have a great target set-up. I was thinking that I might be able to have two sights built into one.
I have 2 bows, a GTO and a X-Force. Now that the GTO is being shot every day and the X-Force is not seeing a whole lot of arrows I might sell/trade for something with a longer ATA for target shooting.

the Sword has an interchangable Guard, you can have one of 5 pins, I think the Spot Hogg is the same way, i will confirm when I get mine.

Well since no one wants to jump on the Sure-Loc band wagon I guess I will. I use the Lethal Weapon Max 5 pin on my hunting rigs now. Awesome sight, I love it and wont replace it until Sure-Loc comes out with something better. You can buy the parts and convert the LW Max over to a single pin setup, which makes it the Sure-Loc Sportsmans Special. To do that you'll need an armored 3rd axis block and the scope & scope mounting hardware. The cool thing with the Sure-Loc is that everything on it is micro adjustable which makes it very precise and it has true 2nd & 3rd axis leveling. Plus you can buy the ArchersAdvatage program and build sight tapes that are accurate down to 1 yard increments. I've owned a few Sword sights and they are a good sight but I wouldnt replace my Sure-Loc with one now that I have the L.W. Max. I was gonna hunt with the single pin setup on mine this year but I ended up putting the 5 pin head back on it, I just feel more comfortable with 5 pins there when hunting...But I can still slide her down and practice to well over 100yds with it, I think if I play with the sight tapes enough I can get close to 150yds out of this sight since I start shooting the "slider" pin at 60yds to begin with.
