I'm sitting in my normal spot on the couch... feet up... watching very, very poor TV. Way to many idiots out on the roads tonight!
I do LOVE the fact that my company gives me New Year's Eve and New Year's day off, though!!!

Well we will sit here tonight and watch TV. Maybe we'll watch the ball descend on Times Square.

I've been thinking about how to make a New Years resolution I can't break. I believe I've come up with the answer. I resolve to procrastinate, but not right now, I'll put it off until tommorrow.

Dave Nowlin
Elite@Last
01-01-2008, 02:15 AM
depends on your velocity, and height of the bump. and if you've got a tail wind.
Dave Nowlin
01-01-2008, 02:17 AM
You know I have tail wind. I'm an old fart.

Hog jowls, some kind of beans and corn bread. I told her she had the hog stuff once and liked it and then she said but I didn't have to cook it

Dave Nowlin
01-01-2008, 03:23 AM
Sliced Hog Jowl, black eyed peas, turnip greens and cornbread. That's Southern fare for New Years and I ain't talking about that mess they serve in Kansas City and call corn bread.

I ate some mess in a truck stop in K.C. that the waitress insisted that I eat. I told her I don't like northern corn bread, it's not fit to eat. She insisted I try it. I took one bite and wouldn't eat any more. It was of the consistency of a sheet cake and had sugar in it and was white. She came back and asked why I had only taken one bite. I said Mam, I told you I don't like northern corn bread, You folks don't know how to make decent corn bread. She got mad and walked off in a huff. My wife just laughed.

yeah.... you like the mexi bread.... or southwestern style cornbread... with a little red, and green bell pepper, onion, a little jalapeno.... good stuff
Dave Nowlin
01-01-2008, 03:39 AM
That's good. But even without the pepper in it, our corn bread has a coarse texture and is yellow and doesn't have any sugar. It is best cooked in a black iron skillet. My wife makes corn bread to kill for.

You were doing good until you threw the syrup in there. Scrambled eggs with a bit of sawmill gravy with sausage crumbled up in it and home made biscuits is pretty good too.

THat's good too. So long as the biscuits aren't the kind you have to make go whhaapp on the kitchen counter when you open them. They have got to be good home made biscuits cooked in the oven in an iron skillet.
