While driving around this morning, wee hours, I saw a beautiful piebald doe. First I've seen in quite awhile. Would look great on my wall...

I've never seen one either. Never in all my years of hunting in Colorado and northern Indiana.
What causes it? I know it's a genetic defect, but does it reflect an unhealthy herd?

She was in a group of apprx. ten does and fawns, several miles away from my nearest hunting location. A few years back there was one real close to a property I hunt, a buddy saw her pretty regularly, although I never did. I'm no deer biologist, but I think it is an individual abnormality, not a reflection on the deer herd.

Bummer, that rug would look soooo good in your cabin.

it's abnormality in a specific deer... they carry the gene though. i've never seen one except in pictures..:( i'd love to see an albino too.
