Anyone have opinions on using some of these? I know the Double Bulls Matrix is a great blind, but I am not willing to spend 400 bones on one. I have been looking at the Ameristep Intimidator. Anyone used this one?

I have heard nothing but great things about Ameristep. I need to buy another popup for this next year

I am using the brickhouse now, but it is not very archery friendly. The windows are too high if you have a slight downhill shot. The intimidator looks as if it may have the same issue. A blind is my only choice to hunt from at this point. My 4 year old goes with me, and while he is very quiet, he moves around a little too much. I will not hunt from a tree stand, and if I did, I wouldn't take the little guy up in one. The blind is working out great to conceal us, but getting a shot off is another story.

I dont know about the intimidator but the doghouse TSC I had by ameristep was a POS Id bet the Intim. is much better than the Dhouse. It scared away alot of goats with that shiny material and leafy things flappin around, I got POd drove strait to buy a DB and had a buck come to drink first day. Plus DB warranty service is awesome from what I hear.
Something to think on is all;)

I will get a DB, but not this year. The 400 bucks can be better spent, you know, a new bow or something! Actually, I am buying my son a new bow, and camo, and on and on, so my wife would like me to cut back on spending for the items that I don't have to have the best of.

I hear ya.
Where I use gnd blinds(out in the wide open for goats and deer) its good to have the best. If a guy can brush in blinds I think you could get by with less.
Takin your 4 yold out sound like fun, cant wait for my girl to get there!

I bought a "junk" blind to leave out all year (forgot the name) and when I tested it in my back yard, the netting was so lousy (course and tough) that my bh's dropped a foot at 25 yards. I got Double Bull netting, cut out the old crap and my wife sewed in the DB netting and no drop problems. I love my Matrix.....to me it is worth the money in quality and features.

I know the DB is worth the price, I just have too many expenses at one time to spend that kind of cash, so my son can hunt. We are going out today after I pick him up from school. Maybe I should just get the DB and be done with it, but if the intimidator would get us through the rest of the season, that would be great. Then next year I would have two blinds, and I could use the Intimidator to set up the camera in.

Don't worry Jerry, he won't let me:D. I am working in the morning while he is at school, then we go hunting, then Dad gets to work through the night to stay caught up. I don't mind doing this for him at all. This kid is fully commited to hunting. We were in the woods for 7.5 hours straight on Saturday, and he was dissapointed when I told him it was getting too dark to take a shot.

Just 1 More, thanks for posting this, it is something to consider, but honestly, I am not diggin' the windows. It looks as if there are a lot of blind spots, and the center window is a little high.
I will check into these and get back with you.

I have a Ground Max Deluxe hub style and I love it. It is a little heavier material than my Ameristep, and all the zippers are waterproof.:rain:
